After being the target of two anonymous packages containing devices that looked like pipe bombs, Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters – the same Maxine Waters who openly called for public violence and harassment against Trump administration employees, mind you – now says that President Trump “should take responsibility” for the escalating rhetoric and threats of violence against political and public officials, including this latest rash of threats.

"I think the president of United States should take responsibility for the kind of violence that we are seeing for the first time in different ways,Waters said. "I think the president of the United States has been dog-whistling to his constituency, making them believe that their problems are caused by those people over there."

“And I think they are acting in a way that they think the president wants them to do and the way he wants them to act,” Waters continued, adding that Trump “in his own way really does promote a lot of violence.”

Again, if the irony here is still lost on you, this is the same Maxine Waters who has publicly and repeatedly instructed her supporters to publicly accost Republicans – particularly those who work in the Trump administration – whenever they dare to step out of their house.

“Already you have members of your (President Trump’s) cabinet that have been booed out of restaurants. Who have protestors taking up at their house. Who say - ‘No peace, no sleep,’” Waters declared back in June.

“So let’s stay the course. Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station. You get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore - anywhere!”

She then told MSNBC she stands by her call to publicly harangue Trump officials until they finally give in and quit their jobs.

“They’re absolutely going to harass them until they decide that they’re going to tell the president, ‘No, I can’t hang with you.’”

But sure, Maxine. Unhinged people flying off the handle thanks to their political beliefs is totally all Trump’s fault.
