“Forrest Gump” actor Tom Hanks recently came out in opposition of censoring old books to satisfy modern sensibilities when promoting his upcoming novel, "The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece." Hanks claimed “we’re all grownups here.”

The “Castaway” actor touched on cancel culture when speaking with BBC News

“I’m of the opinion that we’re all grown-ups here," he said. "Let’s have faith in our own sensibilities as opposed to having somebody decide what we may or may not be offended by.”

Frankly, Hanks is spot on.

Nowadays people, most especially the weak, leftist mob, find ways to victimize themselves in just about every circumstance. Not too long ago, Dr. Seuss books had to be changed to cater to those who were offended by them. Then of course Roald Dahl’s children’s books were edited to remove so-called “offensive” language, and even R.L. Stine’s “Goosebumps” stories were adapted to cater to perceived public sensitivities.

Our culture is chock full of people who somehow enjoy making a mountain out of a molehill. It appears they like to cause a ruckus, and a “professional victim” is their favorite role to play.

A few weeks ago, popular filmmaker Steven Spielberg, commonly known for his work on classics like "Jaws" and "E.T.,” spoke with Time Magazine and admitted it was dumb to change films and books to fit modern day sensitivities. He regretted how he changed parts of E.t. over some criticism he'd received.

“It is sacrosanct," Spielberg opined. "It is our history, it’s our cultural heritage. I do not believe in censorship in that way.”

Hanks said it best when he said, “Let me decide what I am offended by and what I’m not offended by. I would be against reading any book from any era that says ‘abridged due to modern sensitivities.’”

Honestly, by the number of creators who’ve dramatically caved to the woke mob in this way, it’s nice to see Hanks stand his ground on this one. Now, if only he used the same common sense concerning all the other political issues he sticks his nose into!
