Tinder Launches ‘Menprovement Initiative’ to Fight ‘Douchebags’

Tinder, the dating app known for crafting one-night-stands, just unleashed a new “Menprovement Initiative” that casts middle children and men with positive upbringings as “douchebags.”

According to a video posted on Twitter and YouTube, the “Menprovement Initiative” involves fighting “douchebags” with “tools” that happens to be reaction gifs:

However, in a blog post on Tinder’s website, they depict the new Tinder Reactions as a feature that can apply to many different occasions, not just battling “douchebags.”

So if he’s sweet, send hearts; if he’s funny, send laughs; and if he’s brilliant, send a round of applause. But if he’s acting douchey, it’s time to take the initiative.

The point of Tinder, however, is that if you are interested in someone, you must "swipe right." And if you are no longer interested in them, you can simply hit “unmatch” rather than continuing the conversation through funny images.

Despite the fact that Tinder Reactions can actually be used to show you enjoy someone’s company, Tinder is still pushing the idea as being part of its “Menprovement Initiative.”  In multiple posts on Twitter, Tinder mocked men who they believe can be considered “douchebags”—which happen to be middle children and people who have had positive upbringings:

A video on the Tinder channel for the initiative also mocks a man for not being chivalrous enough to want to go dancing. But once the women gain control of the man's mind, he suddenly becomes compliant:

And, despite claiming there is a problem with sexual harassment on the app that warrants “Reactions” to fight “douchebags,” another one of Tinder’s videos includes a woman making a crude sexual comment in response to being asked about brunch:
