If you haven’t heard this story yet, it’s a sad one. Brace yourself.
On August 22, concerned grandmother Michele Blair filed a complaint against the Appomattox School Board in Lynchburg, Virginia. The school’s actions and blatant disregard for parental choice and transparency led to Blair’s daughter, Sage’s transition to a boy, abduction and sex-trafficking.
Back in 2021,14-year-old Sage was experiencing mental confusion. Her friends were part of the LGBTQ community, and she thought that joining their antics would keep the friendships alive. Sage ended up running away from her Virginia home where she resided under the custody of her grandmother, who was now her adopted mother, and began identifying under the name “Draco.” She ended up on the streets of Maryland after being catfished by a sex trafficker who took her to Washington and then Baltimore.
“This sick man trafficked her to so many men that Sage lost count,” Blair indicated.
When she was eventually rescued from a convicted sex offender, she still wasn’t brought back home.
Instead, Maryland officials put her in an inner-city group home as they supposedly didn’t think her parents would “sufficiently recognize her transgender identity,” as the Daily Wire put it. Sage’s court-appointed lawyer Aneesa Khan, who’s email lists her pronouns, fought for Sage to not return home after her mother accidentally called Sage a “she” after driving all night to pick her up. As noted by Judge Robert B. Kershaw in Sep. 2021, Sage was turned over to the Baltimore City Department of Juvenile Services, “for placement in a hardware secure therapeutic facility which makes reasonable accommodation for Respondents expressed male gender and desire to live as a trans male.”

So, Sage went from being in a house with a sexual assaulter to the home of some of Maryland’s most troubled young men. Her lawyer, Khan, did everything she could to keep Sage from returning home. She even went so far as to call Sage’s Appomattox school to get counselors to accuse Mrs. Blair of child abuse. Khan even threw out letters from Sage’s grandmother to convince the young girl that she was abandoned.
Sage eventually left Maryland and ended up in Texas, where she again was trafficked to pedophiles, but eventually was returned back to her Virginia home.
As Daily Wire noted, “Being the subject of an interstate tug-of-war driven by an ideological, leftist bureaucracy was a new kind of exploitation for Sage, who had become accustomed to evil men seeking to use her for profit or gratification.”
This ideology is what led Sage to the trauma she endured. Trusted officials should have recognized that the child was confused and distraught and brought her home immediately, not lead her to more trouble.
“I don’t know who I was. I’m a totally different person now. I never was a boy. Everybody was doing it, I just wanted to have friends,” Sage told her mother according to The Federalist.
There’s more to Sage’s story, but the bottom line is that now, her mother, Michelle Blair is suing the school for hiding Sage’s gender transition and concealing the fact that Sage was being bullied. Had the school been transparent, Sage would likely have gotten the support she needed and never felt the need or desire to run away. Then, her story would have been completely different.
In January, Republican Virginia lawmakers introduced Sage’s Law that would prevent counselors from hiding stuff like this from parents, but the Democratic-led Senate struck it down.
As it is written, Blair’s lawsuit seeks “to recover damages for tortious interference with the parent-child relationship, conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, professional malpractice, and other rights under Virginia law.”
Gender identity and confusion is a social contagion and schools are not only encouraging kids, but targeting kids to hop on the bandwagon. It’s a shame what our country is letting fly under the radar and kids like Sage need better protection, care and actual love, not to be fed with liberal lies.
