Just the latest in a series of horrific side effects caused by the left’s continued open-borders policy at the Southwest U.S. border, U.S. Border Patrol agents found a crying three-year-old boy alone in a Texas cornfield Tuesday night with nothing but his name and some phone numbers written on his shoes.

Border agents said they believe the little boy was traveling with a group of illegal alien migrants and human smugglers who fled and left the child behind.

Officials took the boy to a local border station, and are trying to find his parents using the phone numbers written on the child’s shoes. Fortunately, he’s in good health and is doing O.K.

The news comes amid a massive surge in illegal immigration at the Southwest U.S. border, where agents say they’re apprehending record numbers of illegal aliens crossing from Mexico unlawfully. On Tuesday, border officials with the Rio Grande Valley Sector – the largest sector of the border – reported that in the first seven months of this fiscal year alone, they’ve already surpassed the number of illegal alien apprehensions recorded in all of 2018, adding they catch more than 1100 people per day.

Amid the influx, agents say they’re increasingly worried about violence along the border, as newly released surveillance video recently caught a group of heavily armed human smugglers escorting a woman and her child into Arizona unlawfully. On Sunday morning, a border agent with the Yuma Sector was assaulted by an illegal alien, even while border patrol attempted to rescue a small group of migrants who’d gotten stranded in the desert.
