Biden went off on a reporter who dared to bring up the scandal surrounding both the former vice president and his son, Hunter, bizarrely claiming that “there is no controversy” at all.

“Questions, controversy continue today about Hunter Biden, your son’s—” the reporter started off.

“There is no controversy about my son,” Biden interrupted angrily.

“It’s all a lie. It’s a flat lie because the president has nothing else to run on. If you noticed, while the American people are talking about what’s happening to their families; he has no plan [and] at the debate, he has no plan,” he rambled on.

“Everything from The Wall Street Journal, every other major news outlet has said what he’s saying is simply not true about my son, but it’s classic Trump, classic Trump” Biden said. “And, uh, because he doesn’t want to talk about how manufacturing has gone into recession, how our economy’s in a hole, how we’re approaching a bleak winter. It’s estimated 200,000 more people will die of COVID if we don’t act more rapidly in terms of dealing with rational basis of social distancing, wearing masks, etc.”

The New York Post had published a bombshell report earlier this month that included emails allegedly taken from Hunter Biden’s laptop after it was left in a computer repair store. The emails showed that contrary to Joe Biden’s claims that he had never even spoken with his son about Hunter’s overseas business dealings, Hunter had actually introduced Joe, then the vice president, to an advisor to the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company that was paying Hunter upwards of $83,000 a month to serve on their board despite his lack of industry experience. Other emails show Hunter being paid $10 million a year in consulting fees by a Chinese energy company “for introductions only.”

The emails raise questions over whether or not Biden used his power as vice president to further the financial interests of his son and, even more problematically, himself. Since the story broke, a Tony Bobulinski, a former business associate of Hunter Biden’s has come forward and publicly testified that the emails are real. Bobulinski also claimed Joe Biden had been involved in Hunter’s business arrangements, though text messages and emails he provided to investigators haven’t made that clear.

Biden has so far refused to address the substance of the report itself, instead dismissing the entire controversy as a “smear campaign.” No one in the Biden campaign has so far denied that the emails are fake.
