Oh no! Say it isn’t so! Two of the most annoying and self-centered talking heads of the last five years joined forces on Sunday evening for an interview in which both the question and answer were of no surprise to anyone.

Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) “Dr.” Anthony Fauci spoke with former White House correspondent and CNN host Jim “I live to be annoying” Acosta on Sunday, and, of course, Acosta couldn’t help but bring up his secret crush, former President Donald Trump.

“If Trump were to return to the White House as President, and COVID is still a threat or there’s some other public health emergency, would you have confidence in his ability to deal with a pandemic of this nature?” Acosta asked Fauci before following up. “Would you want to stay on at your post?”

“Well, no to the second question,” Fauci responded. "If you look at the history of what the response was during the administration, I think, you know, at best, you can say it wasn’t optimal. History will speak for itself about that. I don’t need to make any further comment on that, Jim. It’s not productive.”

Without fail, Acosta asked the same question twice, so it was clear that Fauci was making the declaration on his show — which no one watches.

“You would not serve with Trump again, though, fair to say?” Acosta asked.

“For sure,” Fauci answered, doubling down.

If Trump did become president again, and Fauci stepped down from his position, what will we do as a nation? Who will we go to for medical advice that changes every week to two weeks?

You mean to tell me if all that happens, no more action figures? No more Fauci prayer candles? No more Fauci abstract art?

I don’t know if that’s a world I want to live in…
