A Texas cajun restaurant is being accused of being “transphobic” because it differentiates the men’s bathroom from the women’s bathrooms using photos of Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner.

On Aug. 15, Dodie’s Place Cajun Bar & Grill posted a photo showing that the men’s bathroom is represented by a photo of Bruce Jenner from the Olympics in 1976, while the women’s bathroom is represented by a photo of Vanity Fair announcing Jenner’s transition to female.

Although the signs have been around since at least mid-August, the controversy around the signs hit headlines after Dallas Morning News editor Dom DiFurio posted a phot of the sign:

After DiFurio posted a photo of the signs, the Daily Dot attacked them for being “transphobic,” claiming the signs are “incredibly insensitive” and promote the idea that “gender is only skin-deep.” It also asserts,  “In other words, Caitlyn Jenner was a woman before she began changing her body and name.”

Speaking of the town of Allen, where the restaurant is located, DiFurio told the Daly Dot he “wouldn’t consider it a particularly great place to be LGBTQ.”

Since the post on Twitter, the restaurant has been receiving negative Yelp reviews from alleged former customers who say they were upset by the Jenner display. The site restaurant’s Facebook page has also been bombarded with negative reviews.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the owner of the restaurant (who allegedly uses a different name on Facebook) said the photos “FINALLY” got media attention.
