Coward is one way to describe the man who used package bombs to terrorize Texas citizens only to blow himself up in the end. Cowards like to make everyone else's life miserable, but when the attention turns their way they take the easy way out. If only the 24-year-old bomber - now identified as Mark Anthony Conditt - could have blown himself up first before harming anyone else, we'd all have been better off.
As authorities zeroed in on the Conditt's location, he took his own life by detonating another bomb inside his own vehicle early Wednesday morning.
According to CNN:
The 24-year-old man detonated the bomb early Wednesday on the side of Interstate 35 in Round Rock, north of Austin, as SWAT team members approached him, police said.
Investigators believe he is responsible for the five explosions that killed two people and injured five others in Austin or south-central Texas since March 2, authorities said.
Now authorities are wondering whether Conditt sent out any other packages before his demise and are warning people to continue to be careful concerning any packages they might receive.
"We don't know where this suspect has spent his last 24 hours," Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said, "and therefore we still need to remain vigilant to ensure that no other packages or devices have been left throughout the community."
Conditt had Texans on edge for almost three weeks before blowing himself up.
The package blasts claimed the lives of two people with another five people injured. The acts of terror began on March 2 in Austin, Texas and ending with the last reported explosion on Tuesday at a FedEx sorting center near San Antonio.
