In the United States of America - banana republic as it may seem at times, thanks to leftwing double standards and shameless media bias - we enjoy a particular set of documents that still set us apart from nations the globe over, documents that enshrine our God-given rights into our rule of law and protect us from government encroachment on these basic core tenants.

Or, at least, they should. But apparently one legislator didn’t get the memo - namely that articulated in the very First Amendment listed in the Bill of Rights: the freedom of speech. According to this Texas Democrat, congressional Republicans who personally speak out in defense of former President Donald Trump could - and likely should - be charged with a crime.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who began by making the audacious claim that former President Barack Obama’s greatest scandal over his two terms in office was the fact that he once wore an unfashionable tan suit at a press conference, suggested that Trump defenders on Capitol Hill have "criminally culpability."

“What do you have to say to your colleagues across the aisle who are clamoring to defend the indefensible charges against defendant Trump?” MSNBC’s Katie Phang pointedly teed up, smirking as Crockett giggled.

The Texas lawmaker then launched into a series of leftist talking points about the “shouting indictment” against Trump.

“Honestly, anyone who was paying attention on January 6, we saw what his actions led to…it is absolutely ridiculous that we have these actions that are playing out by my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. They are really getting dangerously close, in my opinion, to criminal culpability in and of themselves, as well,” Crockett, who's been in Congress a whopping eight months, then said.

Except that's not how this works - that's not how any of this works. Unfortunately for leftists who'll stop at nothing to shut up dissenting speech, you still can't charge someone with a crime or throw them in jail for saying things you don't like, defending someone you hate, or refusing to peddle the current regime's narrative.

Yet, at least.
