If you haven’t quite found yourself entirely fed up with humanity yet, here’s another reminder of just how awful people can be.

A cell phone video posted to social media appears to show several teenagers laughing and jeering at a disabled man as he drowned in a pond.

Yeah. You read that right.

According to the report, on July 9, a 32-year-old disabled man and father of two named Jamel Dunn wandered into a pond in Cocoa, Florida, and began to drown. A group of teens between 14 and 16 years old saw the man in distress – but instead of rushing to help, or even calling 911, they instead began filming the whole thing while loudly mocking the man, even as he screamed for help.

“Get out the water, you gonna die,” one teen can be heard shouting.

Another yelled, “Ain’t nobody fixing to help you, you dumb f***.”

As Dunn’s head can be seen slipping below the water one final time, one unseen teen simply says, “Oh, he just died.”

The group then walked away without calling the police or reporting the incident. But they did manage to upload the video to social media, where a relative of the drowned man saw it and reported it to the authorities.

Dunn’s decomposed body was recovered three days later.

Simone Scott, Dunn’s sister, said her brother was disabled and walked with a cane, and wouldn’t have been physically able to help himself.

Yvonne Martinez, a spokeswoman for the Cocoa Police Department, recounts how the kids simply stood back and watched while Dunn drowned.

“(The teens) were telling him they weren’t going in after him and that ‘you shouldn’t have gone in there,'” she said. “He started to struggle and scream for help and they just laughed. They didn’t call the police. They just laughed the whole time. He was just screaming… for someone to help him.”

According to Florida Today, police said they’d located and questioned the teens, who said they’d been hanging out near the pond smoking weed when they first saw Dunn enter the water. Despite filming the whole incident as it happened and not reporting it afterward, the teens reportedly won’t be charged, as police say there’s no law on the books against standing by and watching someone die without calling for help.

But, law or no law, it doesn’t get a whole lot more vile than this.

Florida Today released audio from the video, minus the actual footage, heard here:
