Tavis Smiley, host of the Tavis Smiley Show, says that he plans to “fight back” against PBS’ decision to suspend him indefinitely after anonymous accusations of sexual misconduct came out against him.
In an interview with "Good Morning America" host Paula Farris, Smiley admitted to having sexual relationships with employees, but insisted that each of his relationships were consensual, dismissing any wrongdoing.
Smiley told Farris, “I have never groped, I have never coerced, I have never exposed myself inappropriately.” He also expressed his dismay over the handling of the investigation, claiming that he felt blindsided:
The PBS investigators refused to review any of my personal documentation, refused to provide me the names of any accusers, refused to speak to my current staff, and refused to provide me any semblance of due process to defend myself against allegations from unknown sources.
The Daily Mail reported that Smiley lost his contract with another company, a sponsorship from WalMart, and a tour deal with Mills entertainment.
