A Syracuse University student in New York claims she experienced online abuse and death threats for expressing conservative views.

In an interview with the Daily Caller, Adrianna San Marco, a sophomore student at Syracuse University, claims she received several threats and was targeted for online abuse for her right-leaning posts on social media.

“I’ve got them mostly on Twitter and Instagram with people threatening to assault me, to beat me up. I’ve had someone say that they hope I get shot in the head. Other people [were] wishing me death, wishing that I burn in hell,” she said, “Just a bunch of really nasty threats, most of these are coming from Syracuse University students.”

San Marco also said she was fired from the Daily Orange, a Syracuse student publication, after publishing an article in an independent journal on the myth of institutional racism.

“It’s really upsetting to be removed from something that you had hoped to do all four years of your college experience and to put on your resume and to make long-lasting connections from,” San Marco said on being fired from the student publication.

“Even if the university speaks out, I don’t feel safe on campus. I don’t feel safe knowing that [Syracuse] students that have openly said that they hope I get a bullet in the head will be walking in the same halls that I walk,” she added.

In a tweet dated July 19, San Marco later decided that she will not be returning to campus in the fall.

“Despite [calling attention to the alleged threats], I have reached a point in this seemingly impossible battle where I am forced to recognize the very real and present threat to my wellbeing,” San Marco wrote.

She also added, “It is clear that our ‘leaders’ have little interest in protecting the lives of conservative students on campus.”

San Marco reportedly says she has reported the threats to the Syracuse University Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement, but that the school has yet to respond.
