Survey: Republicans Tip Better Than Democrats

Liberals constantly love to tell everyone just how “liberal” they are, except when it comes to tipping servers at restaurants apparently.

Creditcards.com, in association with the Princeton Survey Research Associates International, released results of a survey that found that Republicans are better tippers than Democrats.

Matt Schulz, a senior industry analyst at Creditcards.com, talked to Fox Business:

When it comes to generous tipping, Republicans definitely beat Democrats. Fifty-nine percent of Republicans say their typical restaurant tip exceeds 15%, while just 46% of Democrats say the same. Democrats are also more likely than their GOP counterparts to say that they never tip hotel housekeepers, hair stylists/barbers and coffee shop baristas.

Tipping should be budgeted into people’s dining experience should they go to a sit-down restaurant. As a former bartender/server, if I didn’t have enough money to tip my server or bartender an appropriate amount I simply didn’t go out to eat at restaurants where I’m to be fully served.

People don’t take into account that servers/bartenders typically make less than minimum wage and rely on tips to make up the difference. Don’t forget that a lot of restaurants, particularly chains, take a percentage of servers/bartenders tips on a daily basis.

According to the survey, “one in five sit-down restaurant goers occasionally don’t leave any gratuity at all.”

If you don’t have enough to tip your server, especially at a busy restaurant where the staff is busting their behinds to get you your food, McDonald’s is right around the corner… probably.
