A Kentucky woman checked into Frankfurt Regional Hospital to give birth. But first, she delivered another woman's baby.

Dr. Amanda Hess is an obstetrician from Frankfurt, Kentucky. She was in labor at the hospital when she heard another patient screaming. It turned out to be one of her patients, Leah Halliday Johnson.

Johnson was moments away from giving birth herself, but the doctor had not arrived. After assessing the situation, Hess jumped into action.

"I put some boots over my flip flops and found another gown to cover myself up, and did put my stuff to deliver on and delivered a baby," she explained.

For Johnson, this was a God-send.

"I feel very lucky that she [Hess] was there and the type of person she is and step up to do what she did," she told local media.

Hess joked, "I had actually taken a call the day before, so I thought really that I was working up to the last minute. But this was literally 'til the last second." Hess will be taking some much-deserved time off with her second child, Ellen Joyce.
