Citizens across the country came out in force on “Super Tuesday” and obliterated the 2012 GOP voter turnout numbers.

Eleven states participated in yesterday’s Republican primaries and caucuses, compared to 10 in 2012. On average, voter turnout was up 203 percent from four years ago. In Virginia alone, voting was up 382 percent.

In 2012, the average per-state voter turnout was 372,253. This year's voter turnout was 757,334 per state on average, resulting in the 203 percent increase (four states still are within a few percentage points of being completed as of this writing).

In the six states that were open to voters on "Super Tuesday" in both 2012 and this year, voting was up 174 percent.

The total “Super Tuesday” voter turnout in 2012 was 3,722,530. This year, the turnout was nearly 8,331,000.

It seems like voters made this past Tuesday truly “Super.”
