I can’t even necessarily be mad at this next guy. He’s just taking advantage of a system that seemingly rewards criminals, set up by the same politicians that cheered when they voted to kill babies all the way up until birth.
Charles Barry, 56, sounded like a “Chappelle Show” sketch come to life following his release from police custody last Thursday. Barry allegedly stole $50 from a woman on the subway.
Barry’s been arrested 139 times, including six times since the beginning of 2020. I don’t know if he’s trying to set a high score, but judging from his comments Barry knows who to thank for keeping him out of prison — “Democrats!”
Here’s what Barry told a New York Daily News reporter upon his release late Thursday evening:
I’m famous! I take $200, $300 a day of your money, cracker! You can’t stop me!
Bail reform, it’s lit! It’s the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can’t touch me! I can’t be stopped!
According to the National Review, here’s what New York’s new bail reform law, which was active as of January 1st, entails:
Instead of encouraging judges to follow CJA [New York City Criminal Justice Agency] recommendations the new law establishes rigid categories based on the type of crime committed. So defendants accused of crimes labeled violent felony offenses (VFOs), with exceptions, remain eligible for bail or jail. However, misdemeanants and those deemed nonviolent felons — even if actually violent or high flight risks — must be released.
So because Barry’s repeated crimes aren’t deemed serious enough for those on the left in New York, citizens in the city and tourists have to just deal with thieves who continue to do what they do since they know they’ll be let out.
While Barry should probably be in jail again — he’s already served six terms in prison — he’ll most likely steal from someone again, all because New York politicians can’t be bothered to keep their constituents safe.
