Less than an hour ago, I wrote a story about how a Canadian broadcaster wants harsh punishment doled out to the Philadelphia Flyers because one of their defenseman, Ivan Provorov, didn’t wear a gay pride-themed jersey.

Now, video has surfaced of another news anchor calling for big consequences for the blueliner’s actions. “NHL Now!” host E.J. Hradek offered a different solution for the problem: telling Provorov to go back to his native Russia.

“Ivan Provorov can get on a plane any day he wants and go back to a place where he feels more comfortable, take less money, and get on with his life that way if it's that problematic for him,” Hradek said. “I understand there’s a conflict of sorts going on over there, maybe get involved.”

So much for free speech and being tolerant.

Ironically Hradek actually gave the most Russian solution possible to someone who would dare think and act for themselves: get deported to a terrible place and fight in a war you’ll likely die in! Dissenters, beware!

Are people so blinded by their emotions and so impressed with their own virtue that they can’t for one second think to themselves, “Gosh, this train of thought is really stupid and I shouldn't say it out loud”?

Saying on live television that he wants someone deported to Russia and to fight -- and likely die -- in a war because his feelings were hurt is vile and reprehensible.

Meanwhile, Provorov's jersey is sold out on several online platforms. Looks like the Russian will get the last laugh.
