Stephen Colbert Thinks All Conservatives are the Same, Apparently

Stephen Colbert, host of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," missed the memo that not all conservatives think the same when he claimed that Jonah Goldberg, of the National Review, was one of Trump’s “allies” and is a “moron.”

Goldberg appeared on Fox News and was discussing his concerns regarding Rudy Giuliani when Colbert decided to try and take a jab at him calling him an ally of Trump and a "conservative columnist and guy at a magic convention inviting you back to his hotel room.”

It is rather interesting that Colbert happened to miss that Goldberg is a Fellow and Asness Chair in Applied Liberty at the American Enterprise Institute, a best-selling author, Senior Editor at the National Review, and a firm critic of President Trump.

Goldberg decided to take to the National Review his response to Colbert’s far-reaching accusations.

“This is a bit of a head-scratcher for me,” writes Goldberg. “I think it’s fair to say, literally, that no one who knows much about me and my political stances these days would call me an ally of Trump’s.”

He, as any conservative who consumes the liberal “comedy” of Colbert has to, decided to laugh it off, but not before taking a jab or two of his own.

Still, given how invested Colbert has become in being a very serious, very liberal politics  guy, you’d think someone on his team might have seen me on, say, The Daily Show,  Morning Joe, or heard me on NPR or CBS’s own Sunday show, Face the Nation... Maybe his show-runner might remember a long talk we once had in NYC.  Maybe one of the writers who follow me on Twitter recalled my somewhat frayed relationship with the president?

Liberal comedians and commentators constantly ignore the fact that within the conservative movement, there are a vast array of opinions and viewpoints. It’s just not the kind of diversity that helps propagate their agenda.

On his show Wednesday night, Colbert issued an apology for calling Jonah Goldberg one of Trump's "allies" because for many American's that is a "hurtful slur."
