A federal judge on Monday threw out an attempt by Jill Stein and the Green Party to launch a recount of Pennsylvania’s election ballots, bringing what could be the end to an embarrassing effort by the previously irrelevant presidential candidate to garner some sort of attention following an abysmal fourth-place finish on Nov. 8 (ICYMI: Stein got about 1 percent of the vote).

Only a few months after being issued an arrest warrant for vandalizing private property during a protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline, Stein launched a $2 million-turned-$7 million-turned-$10 million fundraising scam plan to launch a recount of all presidential ballots case in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, accusing Trump of stealing the election from Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

A federal judge halted Michigan’s vote recount last Wednesday, citing no credible evidence that any voter fraud or “hacking” had occurred to justify a recount.

Likewise, U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond ruled that in Pennsylvania, Stein’s demand for a recount “borders on the irrational,” adding that ‘‘most importantly, there is no credible evidence that any ‘hack’ occurred, and compelling evidence that Pennsylvania’s voting system was not in any way compromised.”

Stein’s massively expensive recount is curently being carried out in Wisconsin, but has so failed to make any notable difference for Clinton. So far, the recount is about 95 percent complete, while Trump still leads Clinton by about 22,000 votes.

The efforts come after Stein allegedly raised more than $7.3 million from citizens and private donors to help with the recount, the associated costs of which are vaguely broken down (but never actually proven) on her website. Stein’s original recount cost was purported to be around $2.5 million, a total which quickly metastasized into a whopping $10 million to supposedly fight against “Trump and his cronies” in a “historic fight for voting justice!”

Or, a historic way of shadily raising a pile of cash for the Green Party, casting a far-too-late spotlight on Jill Stein, and providing a much-needed post-election laugh for the rest of us.
