A Starbucks employee i New Jersey has been charged with subjecting a law enforcement officer to contact with a bodily fluid after police say he spit in the drinks ordered by officers, then openly bragged about it.

Park Ridge Police Chief Joseph Madden said they questioned 22-year-old Kevin Trejo after he was “arrogant enough to be bragging about” spitting in cops’ coffee. Trejo admitted to the crime.

In addition to the bodily fluid charge, Trejo is also being charged with creating a hazardous or physically dangerous condition and knowingly tampering with a cup of coffee knowing it was ordered by a law enforcement officer. He’s also lost his job, according to Starbucks spokesperson Sara Autio, who told, “This individual’s behavior was reprehensible and not at all a reflection of how our employees treat our customers on a daily basis.”

“We want everyone who comes into our stores to receive a positive experience and when that doesn’t occur, we move quickly to address it and hold ourselves accountable,” Autio added.
