It’s pretty hilarious seeing all of these “false idols” — aka celebrities — announce they’re leaving Twitter because they can’t handle free speech. The funny thing is they never actually say they hate free speech, but they use different terms to convey as such.

Legendary pop/rock singer Elton John announced on Friday morning that he’ll be leaving Twitter because of the divisiveness of “misinformation.”

“I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked,” John wrote in the tweet.

To be fair, the British have never been keen on the concept of free speech, especially considering their police now focus more on social media posts that might possibly be offensive to anyone rather than actual violent crimes.

“Given their recent change in policy?” You mean allowing people to say what they want, not including threats or impersonation? You mean a change in policy that doesn’t allow for unfettered censorship based on partisan whims?

Oh, poor you, “Sir Elton.”

At least one person wants John to reconsider, and that person seems to be Twitter owner Elon Musk.

As long as you can still listen to John’s music on whatever platform you use, who cares if he has a Twitter account? I didn’t even know he had one in the first place.

When the “false idols” realize that they exist in the public eye simply for our entertainment — which they get paid handsomely for — and not for their takes on geopolitical matters or whatever else that no one asked them for, the quicker we as a society can return to only being consistently disappointed by politicians and the establishment media.
