In addition to being openly gay, pop singer Sam Smith has recently “come out” as saying he feels like both a man and a woman.

While speaking to the Sunday Times, in a story picked up by E Online, Smith divulged that he likes to wear a “feminine shoe.”

"I love a heel," he explained. "I've got loads of heels at home."

He said he was inspired by the likes of Boy George to branch out from traditionally masculine clothing and to embrace his reportedly feminine side (which, apparently, includes wearing huge combat boots).

“People don't know this, but when I was 17, I remember becoming obsessed with Boy George and Marilyn, and all that. There was one moment in my life where I didn't own a piece of male clothing, really. I would wear full make-up every day in school, eyelashes, leggings with Dr Martens and huge fur coats, for 2.5 years,” he explained.

When asked if his clothing choices had anything to do with his gender identity or whether he feels like he is “cisgender,” Smith pointed out that he has Venus tattoos on his fingers.

“I don't know what the title would be, but I feel just as much woman as I am man,” he explained.

So there you have it: apparently, being a woman is simply a matter of fashion choices.
