During a Congressional Black Caucus Special Order event on Monday, Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee took a knee on the House floor in protest of President Trump after delivering a scathing speech against Trump’s comments toward NFL players who knelt during the National Anthem.

But instead of addressing the president’s verbal attack on those who disrespect the flag and country, Jackson Lee chose to spin his comments into an issue about race.

“You tell me which of those children’s mothers are a son of a B? That is racism. You cannot deny it, you cannot run from it," she fired off in response to Trump’s comments about team owners firing players off of the field if they disrespect the American flag.

It's worth noting that while Trump’s words toward anthem protesters were certainly meant to be harsh, he didn't mention anything about race.

In the final moments of her tirade, the congresswoman got on one knee and stated, “ I kneel in front of the flag and on this floor, I kneel because I’m going to stand against racism…and I kneel because I will stand with those young men, and I will stand with our soldiers, and I will stand with America because I kneel.”
