Punk legend and former Sex Pistol John Lydon, AKA Johnny Rotten, was on Britain’s ITV Monday, where he surprised the show hosts by defending President Donald Trump from “left-wing media” smears.
“The Donald, well…there’s a complicated fellow,” Lydon said when asked about his U.S. citizenship and President Donald Trump.
“As one journalist once said to me, ‘is he the political Sex Pistol?’”
“In a way- but what I dislike, is the left-wing media in America are trying to smear the bloke as a racist and that’s completely not true,” Lydon continued.
“There’s many, many problems with him as a human being – but he’s not that. And there just might be a chance that something good will come out of that situation. Because he terrifies politicians and this is joy to behold.”
"That very much is the Sex Pistol's thing anti-establishment, he's the absolute, the archetypal ant-establisment character," The show host said.
"And dare I say, a possible friend?" Lydon added.
