Maybe Senate Dems think the third time’s the charm. Maybe they really enjoy interrogation. Or, maybe they just want to catch the current Attorney General saying something he shouldn’t have.

After two appearances in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Democrats are once again calling on Jeff Sessions to testify about his role in Russia’s alleged ties to President Trump’s campaign.

This time, Senate Democrats are invoking the recent indictment and guilty plea of ex-Trump campaign advisor, George Papadopoulos, as the basis for bringing Sessions back to the chopping block.

While Papadopoulos did plead guilty to lying about his contacts with Russia, not a single paragraph in the relevant court documents contained any indication that Sessions would have known about the ex-campaign advisor’s Russian connections.

Politico reported that Senators Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Al Franken (D-Minn.) have all called for Sessions to return again and testify. Franken seemingly as far as to say Sessions should face a third round of questioning. In an eight-page letter sent to the attorney general, Franken stated, “[T]he Senate — and the American public — cannot trust your word.”

Then here's a question: if he's so untrustworthy, why keep dragging him in testify?
