Sen. Kennedy: Dems' 'COVID Relief' Bill Is an 'Orgy of Pork' That's 'Chock Full of Spending Porn'

Never one to mince words, GOP Sen. John Kennedy had some things to say about Democrats’ COVID relief bill this week – namely that it’s full of billions in wasteful spending that has nothing to do with helping Americans suffering from the pandemic and its economic fallout.

Except he said it better. Way better.

According to the senator, who tends to use…let’s just call it “colorful” language...to express himself, the massive $1.9 trillion spending bill is nothing more than an "orgy of pork."

"The only way I know how to improve it is with a shredder," Kennedy told Fox News. "It's not even a coronavirus bill. Calling this a coronavirus bill is like calling Harvey Weinstein a feminist. It's chock-full of spending porn."

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has vowed the Senate will push the massive “stimulus” bill - officially titled the "American Rescue Plan" - through this week, even as Republicans seek to hold up the process to protest what they claim are billions in unnecessary expenditures, including “$750,000,000 for the global response to COVID-19, $270,000,000 in arts and humanities endowments, $200,000,000 for museums and libraries, $50,000,000 in family planning funding, raising of the minimum wage, expansion of Medicaid and Obamacare, expansion of the paycheck protection program, funding for the “activities of one or more equity commissions,” and multiemployer pensions plans bailout,” per one Fox News report.

Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said he intends to delay the Senate vote himself by having Senate floor staff read every word of the 628-page relief bill, which would take hours.

Democrats, on the other hand, say they’re happy to let Americans know what’s in the bill.

“The senator from Wisconsin wants to give the American people another opportunity to hear what’s in the American Rescue plan. We Democrats want America to hear what’s in the plan,” Schumer said.

If passed, the bill would be the third gigantic COVID relief bill to be passed by Congress, all three of which have contained billions in spending for non-COVID items.
