Vt. Couple's Foster Care License Revoked for Having Christian Views & Refusing 'Gender-affirming Care'

It seems stories involving liberal states denying parents the right to adopt children because they are Christians is becoming more frequent, and unfortunately, it has happened again in Vermont.

Melinda Antonucci and Casey Mathieu are having their foster care license revoked by the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF), because they refused to agree to facilitate “gender-affirming care” within the foster program, according to an article by Life News.

The Center for American Liberty is filing a lawsuit on behalf of Antonucci and Mathieu for “its unlawful and retaliatory actions.”

“Apparently the state of Vermont would rather place vulnerable children in a home with drag queens than in a home with a loving mom and dad who, like most Americans, do not believe it is a good idea to transition a minor child’s gender,” said CEO and Founder of the Center for American Liberty Harmeet Dhillon.

This situation is not uncommon, as in recent years we’ve seen a rise in lawsuits like this one, because companies and states believe they can fire people or deny them rights based on their beliefs.

“We are heartbroken and frustrated that our foster care license is being threatened simply because we are not willing to facilitate controversial psychological and medical procedures for children,” Antonucci and Mathieu explained. “The choice to become foster parents was personal after seeing the massive need for children without homes in Vermont.”

Organizations like the Center for American Liberty will continue to fight against Democrat-run states that believe they can revoke a family's right to adopt simply because of their beliefs, and that is a positive sign.
