The left consistently attempts to cast the pro-life movement in a negative light through media channels, a trend that has intensified since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. However, labeling them as terrorists crosses a serious line.

On Thursday, July 11, Life News reported that the U.S. Army base Fort Liberty - formerly Fort Bragg - in North Carolina presented a slideshow for training purposes entitled “Terrorist Groups,” which included several pro-life organizations including the National Right to Life, the nation's oldest anti-abortion organization, and Operation Rescue, a group dedicated to exposing the horrific truth of abortion and the women who've been harmed by it.

Journalist Sam Shoemate was among the first to expose this briefing on X, along with a photo of the slide.

The slide also included a pro-life vanity license plate used by ordinary pro-life Americans, appearing to brand them as terrorists simply for opposing abortion. The slide also reportedly followed another slide on ISIS.

“Keep in mind they’re not labeling them as extremist organizations (which would still be crazy), but as terrorist organizations,” Shoemate pointed out, adding, “The military and Dept of Defense are insanely out of control. Service members are being indoctrinated to view Pro-Life groups as the enemy.”

For their part, Fort Liberty officials said the slideshow was not an official DoD presentation and hadn’t been properly vetted, saying the slide was “developed by a local garrison employee to train soldiers manning access control points at Fort Liberty.” WRAL News reported that Fort Liberty responded via Facebook: “After conducting a commander’s inquiry, we determined that the slides presented on social media were not vetted by the appropriate approval authorities, and do not reflect the views of the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Liberty, the U.S. Army or the Department of Defense.”

The base added that “These slides will no longer be used, and all future training products will be reviewed to ensure they align with the current DoD anti-terrorism guidance.”

But in an update posted on X, Shoemate claimed the situation goes much deeper than officials at Fort Liberty are letting on, linking to a video uploaded in 2023 appearing to show the same slide. In fact, Shoemate claimed the original presentation dates back some 20 years, which would explain why it includes an outdated National Right to Life logo.

“According to an anonymous source in Fort Liberty’s Provost Marshall, the slide was made in the mid-2000’s by DES and briefed for the ACP mission (same thing it was briefed for yesterday),” Shoemate wrote.

And it appears the incident has caused concern among pro-life lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

"Smearing pro-life Americans as terrorists is despicable. The materials briefed at Fort Liberty are disturbing. As soon as I became aware of it, I directed my team to contact Army and Fort Liberty officials. They have begun an investigation. The Army must get to the bottom of this and see that it never happens again,” North Carolina Senator Tedd Budd wrote on X.

Fort Liberty officials said they’ve launched a formal 15-6 investigation into the matter - though, if it’s true this slide has been around for nearly two decades for a presentation that takes place every couple of weeks, it makes you wonder why it took so long - and a public scandal - to catch their attention.
