The attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump has inspired both positive and negative responses across the country. Many have shown unity and offered support to the families of those injured and the one hero who tragically died. However, it has also incited negative reactions.

Tracy Budd, a professor at Rutgers University, has found herself in hot water after sharing her thoughts on Facebook just hours after the assassination attempt.

”Let’s hope today’s events inspire others,” Budd stated in her first post.

”They shot his wig,” she wrote in another post, according to Campus Reform.

This a prime example of why the attempt even happened, with people like Budd sharing hate online, which on the surface can look harmless. But when someone tries to take the life of a former president, it becomes much bigger.

Campus Reform also reported that even though her Facebook page was private “Her cover picture contains a poster at a protest that read: ‘Capitalism will kill us all. Gender is fake. Eat garbage. Be free.’”

Dialogues@RU is a research journal “which teaches students the crucial skills of critical reading and thinking, scholarly research, synthesis, and analytic writing across the disciplines.” Budd is an editor for the journal, which is a little concerning.

Despite the controversy, Budd remains employed by the university. It appears unlikely that this will change, fueling criticisms that individuals associated with the Democratic Party often evade consequences for their actions.
