The rising prices under President Joe Biden’s administration have hit the economy hard, and the average American is just getting by with the cost of everyday items continuing to go up.

Food prices in particular have been a hot button issue with menu prices going up a significant amount from the end of 2019 to 2024, making going out to eat almost a luxury at this point.

A post on X by End Wokeness illustrated just how high prices have gone up with restaurants like McDonalds with a medium fry costing $1.79 in 2019 versus 2024 where the cost is now $4.19, which is an increase of 134 percent.

In an article by Yahoo Finance, it mentions how inflation is putting pressure on the CEO of McDonlads Chris Kempczinski who stated, “It’s a battleground to get the attention of the low-income consumer.”

Kempczinski would go on to further explain the issue he is facing.

"There's some transaction size reduction" and "some trade down" among the demographic,” Kempczinski said.

The inflation rates don’t just stop at food. An article by The Hill stated that under Biden inflation has hit a cumulative 20 percent, gas has risen by 50 percent, and it now costs the average American family 12,000 more to maintain the same living standards as before Biden took office.

According to another article by Yahoo Finance, gas prices just a year into former President Donald Trump’s administration were, on average, $2.47 per gallon, which is 21 percent lower than it’s at right now.

The gap between food prices when Trump was president versus Biden are alarming and WRAL News sheds light on how different it really is, with food prices rising 5.3 percent under Trump while under Biden they have increased by 20 percent.
