Age has been a significant topic of discussion in the 2024 election, with both former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden being in the later stages of life. Despite visible signs of mental decline, the liberal media have largely avoided commenting on Biden’s age - at least, until Democrats decided they wanted to replace him at the top of the ticket heading into November.
Then, suddenly, the media decided they care an awful lot about the number of candles on a candidate’s birthday cake.
Now that Biden has decided to drop out, that focus on age has shifted to Trump, who, at 78 years old, recently survived an assassination attempt and, a few days later, gave an hour-and-a-half-long speech recounting the incident.
The Hill decided to take aim at the former president by talking about his mental state in a recent article, claiming, “comparing footage from Trump’s 2015 presidential announcement to footage from earlier this year shows that Trump isn’t quite the man he used to be. The former president now routinely confuses names when speaking off the cuff.”
Trump has publicly stated that he believes all candidates should be “mandated to take a cognitive test” regardless of age. Max Burns, a contributor for The Hill, echoed this sentiment, saying, “There’s no time like the present.”
Hilarious that the media suddenly care so much about a presidential candidate’s age. They certainly never did before.
