Taking down statues of historical figures that the left deems "racist" is nothing new, as they have been attempting to do so for years across college campuses and historical landmarks.

In the latest attempt to destroy history, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson made plans to take down a statue of George Washington that was located outside his office in City Hall - and the backlash was swift.

According to an article by the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago City Council member Nick Sposato was very unhappy when he was informed about the plans to take down the sculpture, which had been dedicated on July 4, 1984.

“When does this stop — the redoing everything and eliminating everything? I just don’t get it,” said Sposato, Johnson’s hand-picked chair of the City Council’s Committee on Cultural Affairs and Special Events. “He’s George Washington. He risked everything. We are who we are because of this man.”

After a slew of comments and protests against the decision to remove the statue, SPosato announced the Johnson administration had decided to change course and not take it down.

“It’s not coming down. It’s staying right where it is,” Sposato said.

“Maybe they were gonna do it, read [the Chicago Sun-Times] story and figured they had better not. Maybe it was my own tough comments that convinced them to change their mind. Either way, the Washington statue stays,” he added.

Despite ultimately deciding to keep the state in place, the fact that Johnson has such a disregard for history - as well as the Founding Fathers - is unfortunate to begin with.
