The police department in Bend, Oregon is under fire after a father posted a Tik-Tok video describing a situation where he said, “So a naked person came up onto my property here, approached my two-year-old kid completely naked.”
The father called the police and asked them, “You’re saying in the state of Oregon, someone can walk up to your two-year-old kid completely bare naked and that’s not a crime even if it’s on your property?”
"If you’re not doing it for sexual gratification or the gratification of someone else, yes, you are allowed to walk around in public naked,” the officer responded, according to the father.
Tiktoker claims a n*ked man came up to his 2-year-old kid and exposed himself. He called the cops who said it’s not a crime. This happened in Oregon. Wtf? pic.twitter.com/hw9mWSkzW1

The City of Bend Police Department responded to the situation on X (formerly Twitter) where they would double down and explain the law.

In Oregon, being naked in public is not a crime. Both public indecency (ORS 163.465) and private indecency (ORS 163.467) have a required element of “intent to arouse.” That was not the case in this incident.
In today's society, such incidents are unfortunately not uncommon. This is especially noteworthy given that Tina Kotek, the governor of Oregon, identifies as a "Progressive Democrat."
Libs of TikTok shared the father's video and commented, "Perhaps it's time for the Oregon Legislature to reconsider these laws. What does Governor @TinaKotek think?"
It begs the question: When will residents of these cities realize that their elected officials may not always prioritize their best interests?
