Sometimes what politicians say in the past can come back and bite them in the butt. Sometimes it can devour them whole.
In 2013, When Barack Obama was in office, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D- N.Y.) told ABC News, the GOP threatening to shutdown the government over a funding issue is like taking your family hostage.
Of course, Schumer insisted Democrats would never do such a thing over an issue, like say for example, immigration. Because that would cause “governmental chaos.”
“You know we could do the same thing on immigration, because we believe strongly in immigration reform, we could say –‘we’re shutting down the government we’re not going to raise the debt ceiling until you pass immigration reform’ – it would be governmental chaos,” Schumer said.
