(Update: 10/28/2022 - This story is a flashback from 2017, but it's important to note Nancy has often told the tale of her communication with the spirit world.)

It’s almost Halloween and what could be scarier than a ghost story told by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi?

Pelosi often tells the tale of the day the spirits of suffragists Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Alice Paul spoke to her at the White House.

Really, she does. She almost brags about this.

According to Pelosi, the spirits spoke to her after they made her feel “really crowded in my chair” because, apparently, they all wanted to cram really close to her.

I guess once you're dead nothing scares you.

Pelosi has told this spooky story many times; the video above features her telling the tale at Trinity Washington University’s commencement on May 20 2012.

There is video of her ghost story being told at a Women’s Political Committee meeting in 2012.

Pelosi's website contains a transcript of the ghostly encounter as in her 2005 commencement address at Goucher College in Baltimore.

Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were activists in the women’s rights movement during the mid to late 1800’s. The Susan B. Anthony List, which works for pro-life women’s leadership in government, uses her as a namesake. The organization says both Anthony and Stanton were strong pro-life supporters.

Maybe Pelosi only received part of their message?
