A United Airlines flight en route to Denver from Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. was forced to return last night because of “a disturbance on board” the flight. “Some crazy guy just tried to jump into the cockpit,” texted Donna Tillam, a woman on board the flight to her husband. It was  the “scariest moment of my life” she said.

Tillam said that she was playing a game on her phone when a screaming man ran past her her first-class seat towards the cockpit. She said that the man was saying “jihadists” were aboard the plane.

A Redditor said that his father was on board the flight and had seen a man “screaming and sprinting towards the cockpit. Several large passengers tackled him before he even reached the door. He claimed to have bombs on board when first taken down, they are still looking into it but I imagine it was most likely a lie.”

A Redditor also posted video of the event showing a dark-haired man with bruises on his face subdued by security guards.

No weapons were found and no passengers were injured said an airport spokeswoman. The man who caused the disturbance was sent to a local hospital for an evaluation.
