Rubio Switches Gears: Never Mind, I'm Running for Senate

Florida Senator Marco Rubio announced Wednesday morning he’ll be seeking reelection in November, reversing his previous decision not to run following a failed presidential bid that ended earlier this year.

In an official announcement posted on his website and Facebook page, Rubio stated he had decided to jump back into the Senate race because “I believe I have something to offer.”

“Control of the Senate may very well come down to the race in Florida. That means the future of the Supreme Court will be determined by the Florida Senate seat. It means the future of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal will be determined by the Florida Senate seat. It means the direction of our country’s fiscal and economic policies will be determined by this Senate seat. The stakes for our nation could not be higher.”

Rubio added he's concerned about America's future following the upcoming presidential election, saying, "No matter who is elected president, there is reason for worry."

Florida’s primary will be held on August 30, giving Rubio only a couple months to campaign before voters head to the ballot box. Some absentee voters will cast their ballots as early as next month.

Rubio suspended his presidential campaign back in March.
