In an appearance on Fox News Tuesday afternoon, Florida senator Marco Rubio criticized the media for operating "on conflict” and pitting one candidate against the next in hopes for better ratings.

When asked to reply to recent comments made by former President George W. Bush regarding Rubio’s lack of experience as “a young, first-term senator,” the GOP candidate replied:

“I don’t even know if he said that, number one. Number two, it sounds like him just telling a joke.”

“It doesn’t matter,” he argued. “At the end of the day, it’s a campaign. From time to time, people are gonna say things – sometimes things they don’t want to say are really mean. I’m not worried about any of that.”

“The press in general operates on conflict,” Rubio stated.

“I’m not running against anybody. I’m running for president. I just don’t think this country can afford another four years like the last.”
