All the major news outlets could seem to talk about Wednesday morning was how “presidential” President Trump was during his first address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night.

Even politicians such as his former rival Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) had to admit that Trump’s speech was a sharp departure from the tone and rhetoric used during his campaigns.

“At the end of the day, last night’s speech was presidential,” said Rubio in an interview with "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday. "And I don't think anyone can dispute that."

The Florida senator and 2016 Republican presidential candidate criticized Democrats for being disrespectful during the address, including how "they got up and walked out” the moment the speech was over.

“You don’t have to agree with everything,” he said. “I certainly have sat through eight of those or six of those under President Obama and I didn’t agree with every one of them.”

“But last night was a presidential speech. It was truly presidential. [And] I really think it was the most important moment yet of this young presidency,” Rubio added.

Trump and Rubio have not had the smoothest relationship.

During a bitter primary battle, Trump mocked his former rival as "Little Marco" and Rubio repeatedly called Trump a "con man."

He also famously made fun of Trump's hand size and makeup

Even so, Sen. Rubio has chosen to give Trump a chance to effect real change in Washington, something Democrats have yet to try
