A manhunt is underway for two suspects involved in an apparent road rage incident that left a 4-year-old boy shot in the head and in serious condition.

According to ABC News, the Cleveland Police Department are searching for two black men who are believed to have shot into a woman's car after she honked her horn at their vehicle.

The woman at the time was driving her 4-year-old son and her 7-year-old daughter.

“After the mother honked her horn to pass another car blocking the road, that car allegedly followed the mother onto the freeway and fired shots into the woman's car, police said,” reports ABC News. “The mother then exited the freeway and contacted EMS, police said.

“Police said the 4-year-old underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments and preliminary information indicates the bullet fragments did not penetrate his brain. The 7-year-old girl suffered minor scratches from shattered glass, police said.”

The mother said the suspects were driving a four-door white Pontiac with tinted windows. She told police that she did not know the men in the other car.
