In an interview with CNN Friday, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said that he would rather run against Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton than Bernie Sanders in the 2016 general election.

He explained that Clinton's unpopularity and the possibility of her being indicted for mishandling classified information during her stint as President Obama’s secretary of state make her the more ideal opponent.

“I’d rather run against Hillary Clinton,” said Priebus, “because she is defined, she is not liked, and, you know, in a popular, cultural vote in America, that’s a really important question and she doesn’t do well on that question. And I don’t know what’s going to happen with the FBI.”

“Put her unpopularity together with another unknown that could make it even harder for her, I would rather run against Hillary Clinton,” he said.
