Report: U.S. Led All Countries in Reducing CO2 Emissions in 2019

Despite being the scourge of the globalist community for daring to leave the Paris Climate Accord, the U.S. appears to be leading the way in reducing its "carbon footprint."

According to a report released on Tuesday by the International Energy Agency (IEA), "The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis."

But, but...what about climate alarmist Greta Thunberg's outrage over countries not doing enough about climate change to make her existence a happy one? I only have one thing to say to that. How dare you?!

Here's what the IEA had to say about the science of the U.S. reduction in carbon emissions:

...a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt. US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period. A 15% reduction in the use of coal for power generation underpinned the decline in overall US emissions in 2019. Coal-fired power plants faced even stronger competition from natural gas-fired generation, with benchmark gas prices an average of 45% lower than 2018 levels. As a result, gas increased its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%. Overall electricity demand declined because demand for air-conditioning and heating was lower as a result of milder summer and winter weather.

So they're giving the U.S. credit, but notice how they still give partial credit to climate change by saying that people used their air conditioning and heat less because of "milder" weather.

In his November 4, 2019 statement "On the U.S. Withdrawal from the Paris Agreement," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke about the "unfair economic burden imposed on American workers, businesses, and taxpayers by U.S. pledges made under the Agreement."

Essentially, Pompeo is saying that Americans shouldn't have to pay for the environmental shortcomings of other nations.

Pompeo went on further in his statement to briefly talk about the environmental successes the U.S. has seen over the last 50 years or so:

The United States has reduced all types of emissions, even as we grow our economy and ensure our citizens’ access to affordable energy.  Our results speak for themselves:  U.S. emissions of criteria air pollutants that impact human health and the environment declined by 74% between 1970 and 2018.  U.S. net greenhouse gas emissions dropped 13% from 2005-2017, even as our economy grew over 19 percent.

So climate change alarmists can talk about how we're all gonna die in 12 years and how the U.S. is so evil because we use and like plastic straws, but the proof is in the pudding. Calm down. The U.S. is doing their part. Now, if only places, like China, would do theirs.
