A man was arrested in Washington Wednesday night after allegedly making an “extremely serious” death threat against conservative talk show host Ben Shapiro and his family.

TMZ first reported the arrest. Shapiro confirmed the situation on Twitter, sharing the TMZ article with the caption, “Thanks to local and federal law enforcement for their quick and hard work here. Stay safe out there, everyone!

According to TMZ,

Law enforcement sources tell us, Shapiro, who frequently appears on cable news shows and has a hugely popular podcast, filed a police report with the LAPD. We're told the threats were not just against Shapiro but his family as well. He's married with one daughter.

We're told the Department got in touch with the FBI and created a joint task force to hunt down the culprit.

Our sources say a man was arrested Wednesday in Washington state for making the threats.

We're told these threats were 'extremely serious' ... not just someone blowing off steam.

In an update early Thursday morning, TMZ indicated that the death threat suspect “is being held in a federal detention center, and will have his initial court appearance at 2 PM PT Thursday in federal court in Seattle.”

It was confirmed that the FBI, the Secret Service, and Kent PD were on the case.

More details to come.

Shapiro, who serves as editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire, appeared in O.K. spirits, tweeting jokingly, "That TMZ photo with me in the Twins cap is slightly humiliating, however. forever!"

A Twitter user curiously asked Shapiro whether he condemns death threats against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), to which he classily replied, "Of course. I do, I have, and I always will."
