Sources reportedly told Fox News that prosecutors believe the attack was politically motivated, rather than the prevailing liberal narrative that it was due to a landscaping dispute.
Boucher’s lawyer has claimed the assault was due to something “trivial.” Other neighbors, however, have claimed the pair have had “heated” conversations about politics in the past. Boucher was described by one neighbor as being a “socialist” and Boucher’s social media posts mentioned him opposing President Trump.
Boucher has since pleaded non-guilty to misdemeanor assault.
