During Tuesday’s House Rules Committee hearing on the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, Rep. Louise Slaughter (D –N.Y.) claimed the measure would pass and that “now we are all going to shoot each other.”
“I know we can’t stop this bill. I know this is going to pass, there is no question about it and we will add that to this litany of things to what you're doing to the tax bill and now we’re all going to shoot each other,” Slaughter said while debating the bill with Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.).
“And no-holds barred. This is not the Congress I’ve known and loved so many years but it’s the one we got.” Slaughter said.
Despite Slaughter’s interpretation, H.R. 38 does not mention everyone shooting each other. It does, however, focus on one state honoring another state’s legal concealed carry permit.
The years that Slaughter has loved Congress are likely many, as she has been a member of Congress since 1987.
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is being debated in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
