Rep. Omar Blames Cops Who've 'Chosen Not to Fulfill Their Oath' For Rising Crime

If crime is rising in your city, don't blame criminals, politicians, or the activists who've undermined law enforcement for years - blame the police!

That theory comes courtesy of Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar, from Minnesota, who in a speech this week put the fault squarely on police for why crime is skyrocketing in Minneapolis, where a rash of violet anti-police protests broke out last year and continued for the better part of 2020.

"What we must also recognize is that the reduction in policing currently in our city and the lawlessness that is happening is due to two things: one, the police have chosen to not fulfill their oath of office and provide the public safety they are owed to the citizens they serve," she said, claiming that "It’s documented."

Omar, who herself has been a vocal opponent of the police (when she doesn't rely on them herself) and who has called for defunding law enforcement, went on to label the Minneapolis Police Department "the most dysfunctional police department in our state and probably in our country."

That would be the same Minneapolis, mind you, that diverted $8 million from its police budget to fund "violence prevention programs," and which is now struggling under record-setting murder rates and shootings - to events which I'm sure have nothing to do with one another.

“There has to be accountability, and someone that is actually taking responsibility for what the police does, and that doesn’t exist in this moment,” Omar continued in a grammatically butchered sentence.

Perhaps someone should actually take responsibility for what criminals do - and since we aren't bothering to blame the actual thugs pulling the trigger, we'll just shift the blame to the politicians like Omar who may as well be loading the gun.
