Conservative members of Congress were out in full force Wednesday to be counted at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. with the hundreds in attendance for the Rally for the Republic, an event hosted by conservative organization, FreedomWorks.

The event was held in support of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) who spoke on his effort to be the next Speaker of the House following this year’s midterm elections.

Prominent members of Congress spoke on the rally stage, including Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

Jordan gave a very impassioned speech in which he promised the crowd of supporters that if he becomes Speaker he will hold Congress accountable.

“We gotta keep the majority,” Jordan said. “And if we do, and if I’m given the opportunity to lead the Congress, we’re going to focus on one thing, one simple thing — doing what we told the American people we were gonna do.”

Jordan didn’t just focus on the work to be done within the Republican party and Congress. Jordan also spent part of his time focusing on the "extreme positions" of the Left.

Here’s what Jordan said:

I’ve never seen the Left take the extreme positions they are taking. I would argue the most extreme positions in American history.

They applaud [Colin] Kaepernick when he disrespects the flag. They embrace [N.Y. Gov Andrew] Cuomo when he says America was never that great. And, they cheer [Democratic Calif. Rep.] Maxine Waters when she says ‘go harass people who support the president [Trump], people just like you.
