It’s time to carefully fold and put on the tin foil hats folks.

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), famous for his concerns about Guam tipping over into the ocean, held a press conference outside the Wesley Chapel Post Office in Georgia on Tuesday where conspiracy theories were signed, sealed and delivered.

Johnson’s conspiracy theory links the discredited Russia/Trump collusion claims from 2016 to Trump’s phone call with Volodymyr Zelenskiy of the Ukraine (which brought about a failed impeachment attempt) to efforts to destroy the reputation of “just about every institution of government,” and especially to sabotage the operations of the United States Postal Service.

Oh, and the USPS is “the very heart of our democracy,” so snail mail is a pretty big deal in Hank’s world. Of course, no leftist raving is complete without calling Trump a fascist for good measure, so Hank dutifully complied.

Johnson actually posted video of himself ranting his conspiracy theory on his Facebook page. Below is a transcript.

“This conspiracy started with collaboration with the Russians back in four years ago, 2016 to (garbled). And then it continued with the Ukraine stiff-arm and strong-arm of the leader of Ukraine, trying to get them to dig up dirt on Joe Biden, his chief political opponent.

And that conspiracy has continued to this day and now it involves the United States Postal Service. And the gentleman who is in charge of the Postal Service, Louis DeJoy, is a mega donor to the Trump campaign and he's also a major stockholder in competitors to the post office. And so what he and Donald Trump have been doing is to try to sabotage the operations of the post office.

And the reason why they're doing it is to deprive people of their full and fair right to vote in a free election. It’s undemocratic. It's authoritarian, It’s fascist behavior when it's coupled with his attempt to destroy the reputations of the intelligence community, the State Department, our generals, the courts, just about every institution of government, the free press he comes out against and turns his followers against them.

This is the action of an authoritarian fascist leader. And now we're confronted with that at the very heart of our democracy, the postal service.”
