Reckless and perceivably dangerous stupidity seems to have taken a stronger hold in Congress than we’re used to. Comments by members of Congress are easier to see, hear and read about than ever before. So, it baffles my mind when one of them delivers a public speech, not thinking anyone will dissect what they’ve said.
Rep. Ilhan Omar has no filter, and we should be thanking her for it. At least she’s not shy about espousing her controversial beliefs, no matter how incredibly hypocritical they might be.
Omar gave the keynote speech at the 4th Annual Valley Banquet fundraiser to help raise money “for the Los Angeles chapter of the "Hamas-linked" Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), according to The Blaze. Omar blamed President Donald Trump for all the ills of Islamic people in the United States before contradicting her message of “love.”

But the reason I think that many of us knew that this was going to get worse is that we finally had a leader in the White House who publicly says Islam hates us, who fuels hate against Muslims, who thinks it is okay to speak about a faith and a whole community in a way that is dehumanizing, vilifying and doesn’t understand — or at least makes us want to think that he doesn’t understand — the consequences that his words might have.
Some people like me know that he understands the consequences. He knows that there are people that he can influence to threaten our lives, to diminish our presence.
But what we know, and what Islam teaches us, and what I always say is that ‘love trumps hate.’
To be fair to both Omar and Trump, the president did say that "Islam hates us," but Omar conveniently left out the part where Trump said "I think" before saying "Islam hates us." It's a questionable statement, but it could be construed that the president made the comment from a point of contemplation considering Trump at the time didn't exactly seem sure as to why Islam "hates" the West.

Excuse me. I have to go find my trusty barf bag. The reason Omar’s words are both laugh and vomit inducing is that she contradicts her message of “love” in the very same speech.
After continuing about how persecuted Muslims are in the U.S. — the same country where Omar became a U.S. citizen and other citizens elected her to federal government — Omar made a questionable plea to other Muslims.

“So, to me, I say raise hell, make people uncomfortable,” Omar said. “Because here's the truth. For far too long, we have lived with the discomfort of living as second class citizens, and frankly I'm tired of it and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it.”
I’m not saying that if Muslims are being genuinely persecuted that they should just accept it. But, when you’re in the public eye for continually saying inflammatory things, maybe you should look at the words you’re using before conveying them on camera.
Hypocrisy isn’t a good look.
